P-2 Aperture and Shutter Speed studies

For this study, I explored how aperture and shutter speed affect both depth of field and the appearance of motion. I photographed two primary motion subjects during blue hour in Seattle while also incorporating secondary motion into the background of each series. The fountain series allowed me to experiment with the movement of both flowing water and the Seattle Great Wheel, while the traffic series combined moving vehicles with the rotating wheel in the distance. Through this assignment, I found that the most visually interesting results often came from balancing partial motion blur with recognizable detail rather than fully freezing or fully blurring the subject. Working during sunset and blue hour also became part of the study itself, requiring constant adjustments as the city transitioned from natural light into artificial light.
