While doing this assignment, I discovered some very interesting things. to get the proper effect of motion blur along with the depth of field, I had to mess with the ISO a lot to get the brightness at the right level while still getting the proper image results I wanted. You can really tell from the third photo of the waves and rocks that the depth of field is lower because in the first one, the rocks are fully in focus, but by the second and third photos the rocks slowly get out of focus because of the depth of field. I wish the photos of the swing had a little more motion blur but I think they came out decently.

A story about moving

This is a story about moving away from your home.

This is the building where all the activities happen in the town. The Christmas party and the Halloween party. The easter egg hunt and the 4th of July celebration.

This is the road that I took every day to walk down to the beach.

This is the beach and the dock in the town. The foggy, rainy atmosphere of the photo helps represent what it was like living there most of the year.

This house is very important to me because we would play in their yard all the time. They have a very large lawn, and when it was nice out, the talent show would be hosted here as well.

This store is the heart of the town. It is a cozy spot to get away from the rain and they have the best food in town. There is a picnic table out back where many fun times were had.

This is where I learned to play tennis. I spent many summer days here. The overgrown feel of the court nowadays is very representative of how it does not get used much anymore. The dark atmosphere of the photo, combined with the dirty sign, makes it seem like it is abandoned and out of commission.

This is the road towards my pre-school and the bus stop where I got picked up every day for 10 years. It is very sentimental to me.

Thank you for watching my presentation.

Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams was a pioneering landscape photographer

He was born in San Francisco in 1902

Originally, he had wanted to become a piano player and spent his earliest years learning this. He only ended up becoming a photographer after falling in love with a girl in Yosemite who was a photographer.

He is most known for his work with black and white landscapes such as these.

He took these pictures because he hoped to bring awareness to environmental conservation. This was very ahead of his time.

He was contracted by the U.S. Department of the Interior to photographs of nature within the country’s many national parks.

His first ever photos were published in 1921.

Then, he took his very famous photo, Monolith. Monolith is a photo of the Half-Dome at Yosemite looking very mighty and tall.

This photo was taken on a Korona View Camera.

At the time he took the photo, he only had one plate left, so it was very important he got it right.

Later on in his life he was a founder of the magazine Aperture. It is a journal of photography with a serious tone.

Then, in the 1950’s he would start teaching groups how to take better photos at Yosemite. These lessons happen continuously up until 1981.

He then died soon after in 1984, but he didn’t go without leaving a legacy on the photography world.

Ansel Adams transformed photography through his pioneering technical systems, advocacy for the medium as a fine art, and iconic imagery that catalyzed the American conservation movement.
